The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary shutdown of ACME Road in Ikeja to vehicular movement on Saturday, May 10, 2025. This move is to facilitate the All Progressives Congress Primaries, which will be held at the party’s State Secretariat located on the road.

The announcement, made through the state government’s official X handle on Wednesday, forms part of wider traffic and security measures designed to maintain order during the high-profile political event.

Access to ACME Road will be restricted from major connecting routes including Adeniyi Jones, Lateef Jakande Road, and ACME Crescent, according to the statement.

Motorists have been urged to cooperate with traffic personnel and consider alternative travel routes.

“Ahead of the APC Primaries scheduled to hold at the APC State Secretariat at ACME Road, Ikeja on Saturday, 10th May, 2025, the Lagos State Government has issued a Traffic Advisory to aid free movement during the process.

“Motorists will not be able to access ACME Road from Adeniyi Jones, Lateef Jakande, and ACME Crescent ends. The entire stretch of ACME Road will be closed off to vehicular movement during the primaries,” the statement read in part.

To ease the burden on road users, alternative routes have been provided:

From Adeniyi Jones, drivers are advised to connect through Aromire Street and proceed via Allen Junction.

Motorists coming from Allen Avenue can take Aromire Street, link up with Ladipo Oluwole, and continue through Guinness axis.

Travelers on Akilo Road are encouraged to divert through Wemco Road and then choose between Lateef Jakande or Omole routes.

Commuters have been strongly advised to plan ahead and avoid the ACME Road corridor unless absolutely essential. These alternative pathways aim to ease traffic pressure and ensure free movement around the affected areas.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will deploy personnel along the designated routes to assist motorists and maintain order throughout the duration of the restriction.

The state government reiterated that the temporary closure is essential for the smooth conduct of the APC Primaries while minimizing inconvenience to the public.

Motorists are urged to adhere to the traffic advisory and exercise patience as efforts are made to ensure seamless movement around the event site.
