Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu exercised his civic duty on Saturday, voting at Polling Unit 006 in Ward E, situated at St. Stephens Nursery and Primary School, Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island.
The governor arrived at the polling station around 11 am accompanied by his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, to participate in the election to choose new local government chairmen and councillors across the state.
According to The PUNCH, voting commenced at the unit at 8 am as scheduled. The governor’s media aide, Jubril Gawat, had earlier cast his ballot at the same polling unit before the arrival of his principal.
The ongoing local government elections are being conducted simultaneously across Lagos State’s 20 constitutionally recognized Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.
Sanwo-Olu’s public participation comes as Lagosians decide their grassroots leadership for the next administrative term. The exercise marks another democratic process under the governor’s administration since he assumed office in 2019.
Security personnel and INEC officials were visibly present at the polling unit to ensure orderly conduct of the electoral process as voters performed their civic responsibilities.
