A prominent bus stop in Lagos has been officially renamed after Nigerian rap superstar Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Baddo.

The location, previously called Charly Boy Bus Stop in honor of veteran entertainer Charles Oputa, will now be known as Baddo Bus Stop.

Situated in the bustling Gbagada area, the newly renamed transportation hub pays tribute to Olamide’s immense influence on Nigerian music and youth culture.

The YBNL record label boss first rose to fame from the streets of Lagos, making the honor particularly significant.

The renaming ceremony was attended by local officials and community members who celebrated Olamide’s contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry.

“This recognition is well-deserved for an artist who has consistently represented Lagos in his music and given opportunities to countless young talents,” said one attendee.

Olamide, known for hit songs like “Wo,” “Science Student,” and “Motigbana,” has been a dominant force in Nigerian music for over a decade. His record label, YBNL Nation, has launched the careers of several successful artists including Fireboy DML, Asake, and Lil Kesh.

The bus stop’s previous namesake, Charly Boy, had held the honor for years in recognition of his own contributions to Nigerian entertainment and activism. The change reflects the evolving landscape of Nigerian pop culture and the enduring impact of Olamide’s street-inspired sound.

Local residents expressed mixed reactions to the change. “Olamide truly represents this generation, so it makes sense,” said one commuter. Another added, “Charly Boy is a legend too, but it’s good to see younger artists getting their flowers.”

Transport authorities confirmed that all official signage and digital navigation systems will be updated to reflect the new name in coming weeks. The Lagos State government described the renaming as part of ongoing efforts to celebrate cultural icons who have positively impacted society.

Olamide has yet to publicly comment on the honor. The bus stop serves as a major transit point in Lagos, with thousands of commuters passing through daily.
