The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary traffic diversion following the commencement of reconstruction works at Anthony Village Bus Stop.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Tuesday, saying the diversion became necessary to allow excavation and rehabilitation works at the location.
According to him, the project is aimed at providing a permanent solution to the recurring damage caused by heavy rainfall along the affected section of the road.
“Excavation works are currently ongoing at Anthony Village Bus Stop. The project is aimed at providing a lasting solution to the section of the road that has been repeatedly damaged by heavy rainfall,” Osiyemi said.
He explained that the damaged section would be reconstructed with interlocking stones to improve its durability and withstand adverse weather conditions.
“The affected section will be reconstructed using interlocking stones to improve its durability,” he added.
As part of the traffic management plan, motorists travelling from Fadeyi and intending to access the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway through Anthony Village have been advised that the route will remain closed for the duration of the project.
Similarly, drivers using the Anthony Village Bus Stop service lane to connect Oshodi have been urged to remain on the expressway and join alternative connecting roads further ahead.
The government also noted that motorists approaching from Oshodi and intending to connect Anthony–Ikorodu Road through Anthony Village would not have access through the project corridor.
The Ministry of Transportation advised road users to plan their journeys ahead, avoid the affected routes where possible and make use of alternative roads to reduce traffic delays.
“The Lagos State Government appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all road users during the period of the project,” the commissioner said.
