Mallorca snatched a last-gasp equalizer against Sevilla in La Liga on Monday, securing a 1-1 draw with virtually the final kick of the game.

The dramatic finish saw both teams climb in the standings, with Mallorca moving up to eighth place while Sevilla settled in 11th.

Sevilla appeared on course for victory after Kike Salas capitalized on a defensive lapse just before halftime.

A lofted pass into the box was not dealt with by Mallorca’s backline, allowing Salas to pounce and fire home from close range.

However, in stoppage time at the end of the match, Sevilla goalkeeper Orjan Nyland fumbled a hopeful cross, spilling the ball directly to Martin Valjent.

The Slovakian defender reacted quickly, driving his shot through a crowded penalty area to snatch a crucial point for Mallorca.

Despite two Mallorca players contesting Nyland’s attempted claim, the referee let the goal stand following a VAR review, sealing a dramatic conclusion to the encounter.
