Real Madrid gave manager Carlo Ancelotti and veteran midfielder Luka Modric a fitting send-off at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, securing a 2-0 win over Real Sociedad in their final LaLiga match of the season.

Kylian Mbappe emerged as the hero, netting both goals to seal the victory.

Ancelotti, who is set to take over as Brazil’s head coach, bid farewell to the home crowd, while Modric prepares for his own departure after next month’s FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

The first half was full of intensity, with Mbappe eventually breaking the deadlock in the 38th minute.

After his initial penalty was comfortably saved by Sociedad goalkeeper Unai Marrero, the French forward reacted quickly to slot home the rebound.

In the second half, Ancelotti introduced Vinicius Jr, and the Brazilian wasted no time making an impact. Linking up brilliantly with Mbappe, the duo combined for Madrid’s second goal of the night.

Los Blancos concluded their campaign with 84 points, finishing just behind Barcelona, who are set to play their final game on Sunday.

Real Sociedad, on the other hand, wrapped up their season in 11th place with 46 points.
