The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has announced the suspension of renowned Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 de Ultimate, from all domestic flights in Nigeria for six months due to alleged unruly behavior at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, disclosed that the decision was taken in line with global aviation standards to ensure safety and discipline in the sector.
“We are taking this matter seriously. The passenger involved will be placed on a no-fly list for six months within Nigeria,” Achimugu stated.
He further emphasized that no individual, regardless of status or affiliations, is above the law when it comes to aviation safety and protocols.
“Aviation regulations are globally recognized and non-negotiable. They are designed for the safety of everyone. Anyone who violates these rules will be held accountable,” he added.
Achimugu also revealed that the NCAA was collaborating with relevant authorities, including the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police, to initiate legal proceedings against the musician.
When questioned about the possibility of the musician being shielded from prosecution due to his perceived close relationship with President Bola Tinubu, Achimugu clarified that the administration remains committed to justice and the rule of law.
“President Tinubu and the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, have both shown unwavering commitment to due process. There will be no sacred cows,” he affirmed.
The incident has sparked conversations across the aviation and entertainment industries, with many calling for accountability and strict enforcement of passenger conduct regulations.
The NCAA reiterated its position that it will pursue the matter thoroughly and ensure that all parties involved face appropriate sanctions.
