The Kogi State Government has approved the early payment of March salaries to civil servants, allowing workers to make necessary preparations for the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr festivities.
The decision, announced in a statement on Friday by the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, was approved by Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo.
“The early payment reflects the administration’s consistent commitment to prioritising the welfare of workers and ensuring that members of the state’s workforce are adequately supported, especially during important religious festivities,” Fanwo said.
He added that feedback from civil servants across the state indicated appreciation for the gesture, noting that it would help them prepare for the Sallah celebrations.
“The Kogi State Government assures the workforce that Governor Ododo will continue to place a high premium on workers’ welfare as the dedicated and dependable civil service continues to deliver quality services to the good people of Kogi State,” the commissioner said.
Fanwo also extended wishes to Muslims for a successful Ramadan and a joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration. The festival, which marks the end of the Muslim fasting period, is expected to be observed next week Friday, pending the sighting of the moon.
