Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, is set to inaugurate Enugu Air, the new commercial airline established by the Enugu State government, on Monday, July 7, 2025.

The launch event will be held at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu.

This development was confirmed in a statement released by the airline, which revealed that Enugu Air will commence operations with a fleet of three Embraer jets, comprising the E170 and E190 series.

The aircraft were selected for their efficiency, comfort, and suitability for regional travel.

Speaking on the milestone, Enugu State’s Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Obi Ozor, emphasized the airline’s strategic role in advancing Governor Peter Mbah’s vision of making the state a key aviation hub in the country.

“With a strong foundation built on innovation and sustainability, Enugu Air is poised to transform regional air travel, boost state pride, and raise Enugu’s profile nationally and globally,” he stated.

Enugu Air will debut with domestic flights to Abuja and Lagos, with further plans to extend its services to other major Nigerian cities including Port Harcourt, Owerri, Benin, and Kano.
