Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to bringing an end to the menace of banditry across the state.
The governor made the promise during a condolence visit to Gobirawa village in Dutsinma Local Government Area, where several lives were lost in a recent bandit attack.
According to The PUNCH, Radda expressed deep sorrow over the incident and emphasized the government’s resolve to adopt strategic interventions. “We are not going to relent in our efforts. Our administration is determined to secure every part of Katsina State,” he said.
The governor disclosed that security personnel had earlier been deployed to the village based on intelligence about an impending attack. However, he lamented that the bandits struck immediately after the operatives withdrew. “It’s unfortunate that the criminals invaded as soon as security forces left the area,” Radda explained.
To strengthen grassroots security, the governor directed the Chairman of Dutsinma Local Government to select five community representatives for a consultative meeting aimed at enhancing local defense strategies.
He also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities. “Expose those among you serving as informants to these criminals,” he urged. “Community involvement is crucial in defeating this threat.”
Radda was accompanied during the visit by several officials, including the member representing Dutsinma in the State Assembly, Mohammad Khamis; Yandakan Katsina District Head, Alhaji Sada Sada; and Council Chairman, Kabir Shema.
In a related development, the governor inspected a model secondary school project, known as a “Smart School,” in Radda, Charanci Local Government Area. The school is part of three such projects being developed across the state’s senatorial zones to expand access to quality education.
During the inspection, Radda charged contractors with accelerating the construction process while maintaining high standards. “We will not compromise on quality. These schools are a beacon of hope for children from less privileged backgrounds,” he stated.
Governor Radda’s administration continues to focus on both security and education as pillars of development in the state.
