South African giants, Kaizer Chiefs have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro from Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Soweto-based club confirmed the acquisition on Tuesday, revealing that the 24-year-old will don the number 50 jersey for the Amakhosi.
Ighodaro first arrived in South Africa in July 2021 and has since gained valuable experience across the Premier Soccer League (PSL), netting 25 goals in 97 appearances. He spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan at AmaZulu FC.
Welcoming the new addition, Chiefs’ Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr., expressed delight at the striker’s arrival, “We are pleased to welcome Etiosa to the Kaizer Chiefs family. His energy, determination, and commitment will undoubtedly strengthen the squad this season and beyond. Together, we look forward to creating memorable moments in the famous Gold and Black colours.”
Though signed by Sundowns from Abuja College five years ago, Ighodaro never played a competitive game for the PSL champions.
Instead, he honed his skills through loan spells at AmaZulu, University of Pretoria (Tuks), Chippa United, and SuperSport United (now Siwelele FC).
With his move to Naturena, Ighodaro now has the opportunity to cement his place in one of South Africa’s most iconic clubs and make his mark with the Glamour Boys.
