The Kaduna State government has refuted claims that Governor Uba Sani’s administration has recruited 7,900 teachers to strengthen the education sector.
In a statement issued by Ibraheem Musa, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the government clarified that the Commissioner for Education, Professor Muhammad Sani Bello, had been misquoted in recent reports.
Musa explained, “The Commissioner addressed the media at the maiden edition of our Quarterly Ministerial Press Briefing, but at no time did he make that statement.”
Musa also suggested that the error might have been a result of a “slip of the pen,” and urged journalists to ensure accuracy in their reporting.
During the quarterly ministerial press briefing, held at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna, Professor Muhammad Sani Bello discussed the administration’s education policies. He emphasized that all programs and policies were aligned with the governor’s campaign promises, focusing on improving educational infrastructure and learning quality.
The commissioner highlighted significant achievements under the current administration, including the construction of more than 600 classrooms by the State Universal Basic Education Board, with additional classrooms being renovated. He also noted that the days of students learning in unsuitable environments have ended.
Further praising Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to education, Bello pointed to the governor’s first Executive Order, which reduced tuition fees in all state-owned tertiary institutions.
