Former President of the United States, Joe Biden, has been diagnosed with an advanced and aggressive form of prostate cancer, according to a statement released by his personal office on Sunday.

The 81-year-old ex-president was reportedly undergoing evaluation for increasing urinary symptoms when doctors discovered a prostate nodule. Following further examination, Biden received a diagnosis of prostate cancer, with a Gleason score of 9—classified as Grade Group 5—indicating a highly aggressive type of the disease. The cancer has also reportedly metastasized to his bones.

“President Biden was seen last week after experiencing worsening urinary symptoms. Tests revealed a prostate nodule, and subsequent evaluation confirmed prostate cancer that has spread to the bones,” the statement revealed.

Despite the seriousness of the diagnosis, the cancer is said to be hormone-sensitive, which medical experts consider a significant factor in determining effective treatment options.

“The cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which opens the door for targeted management,” the statement added.

Biden and his family are currently in consultation with his medical team to assess possible treatment pathways. Further updates on his condition are expected as they finalize the next steps.

The announcement has stirred global attention, with well-wishers and political figures expressing support and concern over the former president’s health.
