Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has reinstated Auwalu Danladi Sankara as Commissioner for Special Duties following his acquittal by a court of allegations of misconduct.

The Secretary to the State Government, Bala Ibrahim, announced the reinstatement in a statement on Tuesday, confirming that it takes effect immediately.

“The commissioner was suspended following his alleged involvement in an incident reported by the Kano State Hisbah Board,” the statement read.

Sankara had been accused of engaging in an illicit affair with Tasleem Baba Nabegu, a married woman, and was reportedly arrested in an uncompleted building by the Hisbah Board. The allegations led to his suspension on October 19 to allow a thorough investigation.

The Director-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Abba Sufi, explained that the arrest followed a complaint from the woman’s brother-in-law, who accused Sankara of improper conduct.

However, Sankara was exonerated by an Upper Sha’riah Court in Kofar Kudu, Kano State.

“The lifting of the suspension follows the commissioner’s discharge and acquittal by the court,” the statement further explained.

During the period of suspension, the government had reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability. Bala Ibrahim stated at the time, “We take all allegations seriously and are dedicated to upholding the trust of Jigawa citizens in the government.”

The reinstatement marks the end of a controversy that had cast a shadow over Sankara’s position and reaffirms the state government’s stance on fair judicial processes.
