The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has officially released the results of its rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination for candidates affected by technical disruptions during the initial exercise.
This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday, May 25, 2025, by the board’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.
According to the statement, the resit was conducted to accommodate 336,845 candidates whose initial exams were marred by server issues. However, 21,082 candidates failed to show up for the rescheduled test.
“The board has concluded the resit examination for affected candidates and has released the results. Candidates can now check their scores via the official JAMB portal,” Dr. Benjamin stated.
While the board did not provide specific reasons for the high number of absentees, the resit comes after JAMB admitted that a technical glitch affected the uploading of candidates’ responses in over 150 centres during the first three days of the original UTME.
Earlier in May, JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, publicly apologized for the disruption, attributing it to a server update error. During a press briefing, the visibly emotional Registrar acknowledged the distress the situation caused and promised a transparent resit process.
“This was a painful experience for us as an institution, and even more so for the innocent candidates who had to go through this. We have learned from this and are committed to ensuring it never happens again,” Prof. Oloyede had said.
The initial UTME results were released on May 9, but the compromised nature of some centres in Lagos and the South-East prompted a full investigation and the eventual rescheduling.
Candidates who sat for the resit are encouraged to check their results on the JAMB result-checking portal.
