New Real Madrid signing, Trent Alexander-Arnold, has admitted that winning the Ballon d’Or might be a tough feat following his move to the Spanish giants.
Speaking during his official unveiling as a Los Blancos player on Thursday, the England international acknowledged the intense competition within the squad, hinting that the abundance of world-class talent could limit his chances of claiming football’s most prestigious individual accolade.
“It will be very hard to win the Ballon d’Or with the players on this team (laughs). I’m just happy I will play with them and not against them,” Alexander-Arnold remarked.
The 26-year-old right-back made the switch from Premier League titleholders Liverpool after opting against extending his stay at Anfield.
He has been handed the iconic number 12 shirt at Real Madrid, a jersey famously worn by Brazilian legend Marcelo.
Now part of head coach Xabi Alonso’s plans, Alexander-Arnold has also been listed in the squad for the upcoming 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
