Israel has shuttered all its diplomatic missions around the world amid its ongoing military offensive in Iran, the country’s Foreign Ministry announced in a statement on Friday.
The temporary closures mean that consular services for Israeli citizens abroad are currently unavailable, the ministry confirmed.
In its announcement, the ministry called on Israelis traveling or residing outside the country to fill out an online form detailing their current location and condition.
For those in urgent need, direct contact with the ministry’s situation room was advised.
Additionally, the statement issued a strong caution to Israelis overseas, advising them to “avoid displaying national symbols in public, refrain from posting identifiable information or travel plans on social media and avoid attending large-scale events linked to Israel.”
This development follows a massive Israeli military assault launched earlier on Friday, targeting numerous Iranian military installations, including nuclear-related sites.
Iranian media reported that the strikes resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian military figures, notably the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Mohammad Bagheri, and the Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hossein Salami.
In response, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, issued a stern warning, stating that “Israel had prepared a bitter fate for itself.”
