Alexander Isak’s agent, Vlado Lemic, delivered a cryptic message to Newcastle United following his client’s deadline-day transfer to Liverpool.
The Swedish striker completed a British record move to Anfield worth £125 million after a summer of tension at St James’ Park.
Throughout the transfer window, Isak had refused to train or play for Newcastle, leaving manager Eddie Howe under intense scrutiny.
During the White and Jordan show, host Jim White read out Lemic’s message live on air, “It’s nice when you have someone to be with, but it is even nicer when you know who you will never be with again.”
The summer had been turbulent for Newcastle, with Isak skipping all pre-season matches and the club’s first three Premier League fixtures.
Howe was repeatedly questioned about his striker’s absence, while the team started their opening two games without a recognised forward.
Isak remained silent throughout, only breaking his silence at the PFA Awards. After being named in the Team of the Year, he released a statement, choosing not to attend the ceremony.
He cited broken promises and said the trust between him and the club was irreparable, insisting that a move away from Newcastle was the right course.
Newcastle responded with a statement, and reports suggest Howe ceased all direct communication with Isak after that point. Upon confirmation of the transfer, the Magpies issued a concise 37-word statement regarding the striker, while Isak has yet to comment publicly about his former club.
He has since joined up with the Sweden national team ahead of the September international break, training alongside former teammates Emil Krafth and Anthony Elanga.
