Inter Milan appear to be closing in on a potential deal for Nigerian international and Atalanta forward, Ademola Lookman, with reports suggesting that an informal agreement has already been reached between the player and the Nerazzurri.

However, Inter will need to meet Atalanta’s valuation of the reigning African Player of the Year before any transfer can be finalized.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport on Wednesday, Lookman has emerged as a “priority” signing for Inter, who are aiming to reinforce their attack following the summer departures of Joaquin Correa and Marko Arnautovic.

Atalanta are reportedly demanding around €50 million for the 26-year-old forward, though Inter are attempting to negotiate a deal closer to €40 million.

Meanwhile, Sky Sport Italia (via Football Italia) revealed that personal terms have already been agreed upon between Lookman and Inter.

However, without an agreement on the transfer fee between the clubs, the deal cannot advance.

In positive news for the Nerazzurri, Sky added that the former Serie A champions are “willing to invest €40m up front,” and that this investment would not require them to offload any current first-team players.

Alongside Lookman, Inter are also exploring other attacking options this summer, with Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku, Juventus’s Nico Gonzalez, and Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho listed as alternatives, according to Wednesday’s report.

Lookman was the standout performer in Atalanta’s historic 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the 2023/2024 UEFA Europa League final, scoring a memorable hat-trick that handed the Bergamo-based club their first European title and ended Leverkusen’s unbeaten run in all competitions.
