Sensitive materials delivered to INEC in Kogi State ahead of By-elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Kogi State has confirmed the receipt of sensitive materials for the upcoming Dekina-Okura II State House of Assembly by-election.

Kogi State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Oliver Agundu, disclosed this on Friday through the commission’s Voters Education Officer, Mr. Haruna Haliru.

According to Agundu, the materials were collected from the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Zonal Office in Lokoja and are now ready for distribution to polling units across the four affected wards.

“The Dekina-Okura II state constituency has a total of 78,059 registered voters, out of which 76,385 have collected their Permanent Voter Cards and are ready for the election,” he said.

The REC noted that only five out of the 18 registered political parties are participating in the election. The contesting parties include the Accord Party, African Democratic Congress, All Progressives Congress, Allied People’s Movement, and the People’s Democratic Party.

Agundu expressed satisfaction with the deployment of security personnel and election observers, assuring stakeholders of a credible electoral process. He emphasized INEC’s commitment to conducting a free, fair, and transparent election in the constituency.

The distribution of materials and final preparations are underway as the commission gears up for the poll.
