The governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, said that his appointment was not a mistake but rather the result of a divine orchestration.

According to Daily Post, speaking on Sunday at the Ecumenical Centre in Igbogene during the third anniversary thanksgiving service of his government, he added that it was God’s will to use former governor Seriake Dickson as a tool to bring him into office.

The leader of the state, who recognized that God is the source of all authority, stated that he deserved a second term based on his work thus far and asked the populace to avoid the “pull-him-down” mentality for the state to advance.

He rededicated himself to serving the government and promised that Bayelsa will continue to flourish in the future.

He said: “Today, we’re here to give God praise for the three years that we’ve been in office, there were forecasts that we wouldn’t last more than a year when we first began, yet it has already been three years.

“The Bible commands us to rejoice and give thanks in all circumstances, which is why we have come to praise God on behalf of the state’s prosperous government and its citizens.

“Last year, we experienced an extraordinary flood that severely harmed us. We expressed gratitude despite the flood,” he said.

He urged the people to stop dragging each other down. “Please let’s help each other out. God alone always has the power,” he continued.

He noted that there was no mistake that he is the Miracle Governor and that there were indications long before he was born. “When God wants to do something, He utilizes unexpected tools,” he said.

President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, declared God’s blessings on Governor Diri and the state while preaching.

A member of the House of Representatives, Senator Moses Cleopas, Dr. Fred Agbedi, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, president of the Ijaw National Congress, Mr. Woyengikuro Daniel, national financial secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, and former military administrator of Bayelsa State, Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade (retd), all thanked God for His blessings on Bayelsa and urged the populace to work together to advance the state.

Dame Patience Jonathan, the wife of the former president of Nigeria, deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo and his wife, Beatrice, members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, the Speaker of the House, Abraham Ingobere, the Acting Chief Judge Justice Matilda Abrakasa, the former Chief justice Kate Abiri, members of the state executive council, as well as other political appointees and well-wishers, were among those present.
