In a major shake-up aimed at bolstering security and operational effectiveness across the country, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of new Commissioners of Police to five states—Borno, Cross River, Ondo, Osun, and Jigawa.

This move, according to the Force Headquarters, is part of the Nigeria Police Force’s strategy to strengthen leadership at state command levels and intensify the fight against criminal activities.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who announced the development in a statement on Saturday, said the IGP’s action reflects his commitment to repositioning the police force for better service delivery and professional leadership.

“These postings are in line with the IGP’s vision of enhancing operational efficiency through strategic leadership deployment across critical commands,” Adejobi stated.

The new appointments include, CP Naziru D. Abdulmajid – Borno State Command, CP Bello Rasheed Afegbua – Cross River State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal – Ondo State Command, CP Ibrahim Gotan – Osun State Command, CP Dahiru Mohammed – Jigawa State Command, CP Eloho Edwin Okpoziakpo – Department of Training and Development, Force Headquarters, CP Olusegun Eyitayo Omosayin – FCID Annex, Gombe (General Investigation)

Adejobi further revealed that the postings were carefully considered to match each officer’s experience with the security needs of their assigned states.

“The IGP has charged the officers to uphold the core values of professionalism, integrity, and accountability as they take up their new roles,” he said.

“He also expects them to confront insecurity head-on and ensure that their respective commands are rid of criminal elements threatening national stability.”

While reassuring Nigerians of the police force’s commitment to a safer country, the IGP called on citizens to support law enforcement efforts through timely information sharing and cooperation.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its duty to protect lives and property, and we urge members of the public to collaborate with us in the collective fight against crime,” Adejobi added.
