I waited one hour for Ronaldo selfie – Osimhen

Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, has revealed how much effort he put into meeting one of his football idols, Cristiano Ronaldo, after a Serie A encounter in February 2021.

In a recent interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, the Nigerian star recounted the lengths he went to for a photo with the Portuguese legend following Napoli’s 1-0 win over Juventus.

“I said to him, ‘Chris [Cristiano Ronaldo], I’d like to take a picture with you.’ He said, ‘Yeah, come to the dressing room,’” Osimhen recounted.

What followed was an unexpected wait. As Osimhen lingered, Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon approached him.

“[Gianluigi] Buffon saw me, came to me, and asked what I wanted.

“He went to the gym and told me Ronaldo was working out, told me to sit with him.

“We were just talking, it was almost 30 minutes, he wasn’t out yet. I waited for one hour, he was still working out,” he said.

Despite the long delay, Osimhen finally got to meet Ronaldo and was visibly impressed by his fitness and humility.

“Look at the laps and the veins, you would think he was 25 years old at that time.

“He said, ‘Great game, just keep on going,’ and I shook his hand,” Osimhen said.

Ronaldo’s contract with Al-Nassr is set to expire at the end of the month, though the 40-year-old is expected to renew his stay at the Saudi Arabian club.

Meanwhile, Osimhen’s future remains uncertain, as he is yet to decide on his next destination following the end of his loan spell at Turkish giants Galatasaray.
