Alexer Pere, the ex-wife of Nigerian singer Harrysong, has announced that she is temporarily giving up custody of their two young children, aged four and three, citing emotional and psychological strain following their separation.
In an Instagram video shared on Thursday morning, Alexer described her decision as “the hardest of my life,” adding that she felt she had no other option at the moment.
“I didn’t plan to come on here, but I want this to serve as evidence that I’m making the hardest decision of my life. At this point, I have no option,” she said.
She explained that she had been the primary caregiver since the separation, with the children attending school from her home and visiting their father occasionally.
“I’ve been doing my best for my kids. They visit their dad and school from my place. It’s been two years,” Alexer noted.
Alexer accused Harrysong of repeated harassment and interference, alleging that he frequently appeared at her residence unannounced.
“This man has not let me rest. He frustrates my efforts and harasses me everywhere. I’m tired,” she said.
She added that she would respond to the allegations in his petition in due course but that the emotional toll had become overwhelming.
She also expressed concern about her children being left in the care of domestic staff while their father is reportedly often absent.
“They are just four and three years old. You want them to live with house help because I refused to come back,” she said.
Alexer revealed that she relocated from Asaba to Lagos due to threats by the singer to make her life difficult in her previous city.
She assured that this temporary arrangement does not mean she is giving up on her children, saying, “No mother wants to live without her children. But I don’t know what else to do. I’ll always come back. I want you in my life.”
Harrysong and Alexer were married in March 2021 and have two children together. In January 2024, the singer publicly acknowledged marital challenges and requested privacy for his family during that period. Days after, Alexer posted that she was “officially done” on social media.
