Swedish forward, Viktor Gyökeres, has reportedly ended his relationship with Portuguese actress Ines Aguiar, following a disagreement over his future at Sporting Lisbon.
According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Aguiar had previously assured fans in a widely circulated video that she would “promise” to convince the striker to stay on for a third season at Sporting.
However, that commitment appears to have unraveled, with Gyökeres now looking to cut ties with both his club and life in Portugal.
The Sporting CP star, who has attracted transfer interest from Premier League sides Arsenal and Manchester United, is said to have taken the decision to break off the relationship as he prepares for a move away from the Liga Portugal club.
Reports indicated the pair went their separate ways ahead of Gyökeres’ solo summer holiday to Mykonos, Greece, while Aguiar vacationed in Formentera, Spain.
As reported by TV Guia, the Swedish striker personally told Aguiar about his decision before leaving.
“Viktor doesn’t want anything to link him to Portugal, especially because he has already decided that he won’t continue at Sporting next season,” a source close to the player told the publication.
“Before going on holiday, he spoke to Ines, explained what he felt, and she was also prepared in a way, despite it being something that was difficult for her because she really liked him.
“It was a way of protecting themselves, especially because they knew that one day the separation would happen.”
Despite growing speculation, neither Gyökeres nor Aguiar has publicly addressed the reported breakup.
The two, however, still follow each other on social media.
