Guardiola optimistic about Man City’s title hopes despite Tottenham draw

Pep Guardiola remains optimistic about Manchester City’s Premier League title hopes despite a frustrating 2-2 draw at Tottenham Hotspur.

City had looked set for a comfortable victory, racing to a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo, which would have narrowed the gap on league leaders Arsenal.

However, Dominic Solanke’s brace turned the game on its head. The striker first appeared to kick through Marc Guehi’s calf to score, before stunningly equalizing with a scorpion kick from a cross.

On the Premier League title race, Guardiola insisted there is still plenty of football to be played.

“We are playing at a high level. We didn’t have the consistency to win the games when others were able to do it, 14 games is a lot of games. Six points. Next one.”

He also commended his players for their effort and performance.

“Good game. After the goal they conceded we had to struggle 10, 15, 20 minutes. In general it was a really good performance, unfortunately we could not win.”
