Guardiola hails Haaland’s record-breaking season with Norway

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has heaped praise on Erling Haaland following the striker’s record-breaking exploits in the Premier League and hipivotal role for Norway.

Haaland was instrumental in helping Norway secure a place at the 2026 World Cup, their first appearance at soccer’s biggest stage since 1998.

In a commanding 4-1 win over Italy last week, the Norwegian scored twice, bringing his qualifying tally to 16 goals, double that of the next highest scorer.

Since joining Manchester City in 2022, Haaland has consistently shattered records, and his momentum shows no sign of slowing. This season alone, he has netted 19 goals in just 15 appearances.

Speaking to the club’s website, Guardiola celebrated Haaland’s extraordinary season, highlighting his influence both in England and on the international stage.

“He’s incredible this season, he’s breaking all the records, personal and Premier League, for Norway.

“For him, his national team, many of the squad for Norway weren’t even born the last time they were in the World Cup.

“As a football player, world-class player, he deserves to play a World Cup and live the experience. I’m so happy for him.”
