Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has expressed confidence that Nigeria under the current administration of President Bola Tinubu, will rise again to retain its lost glory.

Mr Abiodun stated this while speaking with newsmen during a commemoration of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

Abiodun who stated this while speaking during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital on Monday, said the country is on the verge of rising again.

According to him, Nigerians need to embrace the spirit of brotherhood, uphold the spirit of nationhood and have faith in the leaders and government of the day.

“Let us have faith in our system, government and leaders. Nigeria is on the verge of rising again.

“We should not be the ones that continue sowing the seeds of discord. We should not continue to fan the embers of discord.

“Let us be our brothers’ keepers, shun all acts of violence, all acts that do not define us as a people, and acts that do not define us as citizens of the world’s biggest conglomeration of black people,” Abiodun said.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the governor also noted that it was important to remember the souls of those who laid down their lives in the course of defending the nation from both external aggression and internal conflict.

“It (Remembrance Day) is a solemn event because these are young men and women who went into the Armed Forces knowing fully well that this assignment may cost them their lives.

“We remember them today and always. We remember members of their families, particularly the spouses they left behind,” the governor said.

Abiodun however called on all well-meaning Nigerians to show acts of kindness to the patriots who paid the ultimate prize in defending the territorial integrity of the country.

“We also want to encourage all of us to reach out to their families, because the government cannot do it alone,” he added.
