Gombe man stabbed to death

The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 45-year-old man, Ahmed Aliyu, who was fatally attacked by unidentified assailants in the Hammadu Kafi area of Akko Local Government Area on Sunday.

The tragic development was disclosed in a statement on Monday by the State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Buhari Abdullahi.

According to the statement, the incident was reported at around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday by a relative of the deceased, Bashir Umar.

He revealed that the attack had actually occurred earlier that day, around 8:00 a.m.

“From the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the victim was attacked with knives and had fatal injuries on the left side of his chest and back,” Abdullahi stated. “He was rushed to the Specialist Hospital in Gombe, where a doctor later confirmed him dead.”

Describing the assault as “senseless and unwarranted,” the police said an intelligence-driven investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, the Command appealed to the public to remain calm and cooperate by providing any information that might help in bringing those responsible to justice.
