Give Ballon d’Or to UCL winner – Ronaldo

Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed a strong opinion on the criteria for awarding the prestigious Ballon d’Or.

Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated UEFA Nations League final between Portugal and Spain in Munich, the football icon emphasized that team success, particularly in the UEFA Champions League, should be a major factor in deciding the winner.

“In my opinion, whoever wins it should be on a team that has won trophies. The Ballon d’Or winner should be in a team that has won the Champions League,” the 40-year-old striker told reporters.

The Ballon d’Or, first introduced in 1956 by France Football magazine, is annually awarded to the player deemed the best over the course of the previous season.

Ronaldo’s comments suggest a call for a stronger link between individual accolades and collective achievement at the highest level of club football.
