Former Tottenham Hotspurs and Real Madrid star, Gareth Bale, has set his sights on owning his hometown club, Cardiff City.
The 35-year-old, who hung up his boots in 2023, recently revealed that his initial bid to purchase the Championship side was turned down by the current owners.
While attending the premiere of F1: The Movie, Bale spoke to reporters about his ambition to be part of the club’s future.
“We are interested in getting Cardiff. It’s my home (town) club, it’s where I grew up and my uncle used to play for them. To be involved with an ownership group would be a dream come true,” he said.
The former Wales international emphasized his deep connection to the club and his desire to help restore its top-flight status.
“It’s a club close to my heart. It’s where I grew up and I would love to be able to be a part of growing Cardiff and taking it to the Premier League where it belongs,” he added.
“I know how amazing the Welsh fans and Cardiff fans are. It would be amazing to try and do something together. We are trying to engage with Cardiff and more news will come out on that in the future but hopefully we can get something done.”
Bale’s passion for the Bluebirds and his determination to play a role in their resurgence have now added a new chapter to his post-football journey.
