YouTube has announced ‘No Turning Back II’ by gospel singer Gaise BabaQ, featuring Lawrence Oyor, as Nigeria’s most-watched music video of 2025.
The track, which quickly grew into an anthem within the Christian community, pulled in an impressive 41 million views in just six months. It also garnered 397,000 likes and over 22,000 comments.
Gaise reacted to the news in the comment section of YouTube’s announcement post on Instagram, expressing gratitude to his collaborators and describing the feat as proof of both divine obedience and cultural influence.
“Big shout out to pastor Lawrence Oyor and that warrior congregation of David Generation Church. See what the Lord has done with our simple obedience. Of a truth, we shift the culture,” he wrote.
Shallipopi’s ‘Laho’ ranked second on the list, while Davido and Omah Lay’s joint video ‘With You’ claimed the third spot.
In the creators’ category, actress Omoni Oboli topped the 2025 chart, followed by Ibrahim Yekini’s Itelediconstudio and Uchenna Mbunabo’s popular ‘Uchenna Mbunabo TV’.
According to Addy Awofisayo, YouTube’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, 2025 showcased “explosive musical talent and captivating storytellers” who continued to elevate Nollywood’s global visibility.
He revealed that Nigerian creators saw increased global reach this year, with 70% of watch time coming from international viewers. He also noted that TV viewership surged significantly.
“Nigerian content is reaching audiences farther than ever. Over 70 per cent of watch time on content produced by Nigerian channels now comes from viewers outside the country,” he said.
“Television screens have become the new frontier, with watch time on YouTube content via TVs in Nigeria growing nearly 40 per cent in 2025.
“YouTube’s success in Nigeria is rooted in years of investment in capacity building. We remain committed to equipping creators with the skills to build sustainable media businesses through initiatives such as extensive creator masterclasses, tailored workshops on monetisation policies, and strategic partnerships with local creative industry bodies.”
