British-Nigerian rapper, Dave and Nigerian music star Tems, have been named among the artists expected to define the sound of summer 2026 after their collaboration, Raindance, was included in Spotify’s annual Songs of Summer predictions.
The streaming platform released its 30-track shortlist on May 29, highlighting songs its editorial team believes have the potential to become the season’s biggest anthems across global markets and musical genres.
Spotify’s Editorial Lead for Pop, Talia Kraines, said the essence of a true summer hit lies in its atmosphere and universal appeal.
According to her, the songs selected are records people can enjoy outdoors with friends while resonating across cultures, countries and audiences.
Dave and Tems secured a place on the list with Raindance (feat. Tems), a fan-favourite track from Dave’s third studio album, The Boy Who Played the Harp, released in October 2025.
The song combines Dave’s introspective lyricism with Tems’ distinctive vocals, creating a blend that has connected strongly with listeners worldwide.
The collaboration has enjoyed significant commercial success, amassing more than 500 million streams globally and climbing to No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart.
The achievement also marked Tems’ first chart-topping single in the United Kingdom.
The latest recognition further strengthens Tems’ growing international profile and underlines her influence as one of Africa’s leading voices on the global music scene.
Spotify’s predictions also feature several internationally acclaimed artists, including Drake, Ariana Grande, Olivia Rodrigo, PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson.
The platform explained that its selections were based on a combination of factors, including streaming performance, audience engagement and a song’s potential to appeal to listeners across different genres and regions.
In addition, Spotify has introduced a new in-app voting feature, giving users the opportunity to predict which track will ultimately be crowned the official Song of the Summer.
