Fubara to address Rivers today after return from suspension

Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, who did not appear on the first day of his official resumption, has finally taken his seat at the Government House and will address the state in a broadcast at 6 PM on Friday, September 19, 2025.

The governor arrived at Port Harcourt International Airport around noon to a tumultuous crowd that prevented him from mounting the rostrum and addressing the masses.

He fought his way through the throng, described as the largest ever witnessed at the airport, before proceeding to the Government House.

At the Government House, Governor Fubara was met by another large gathering of supporters.

Accompanied by his wife, key stakeholders, and security heads, including his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, he inspected his official residence before proceeding to his office.

Speaking to journalists, Gov Fubara expressed gratitude for the warm reception, saying, “I am humbled by what I saw at the airport. I was also briefed and shown photographs of what happened at the Government House yesterday. It was a reaffirmation of the bond between the people and their government.”

The governor assured that his administration would remain committed to policies and actions that improve the lives of Rivers people.

He also announced that he would address the state in a broadcast at 6 PM, during which he plans to acknowledge every stakeholder who contributed to the ongoing peace and stability in the state.
