The Federal Road Safety Corps has commended Assistant Route Commander Babatunde J. Owoeye of the Osun State Sector Command for his remarkable integrity in rejecting bribes from traffic offenders.
The announcement was made in a statement by the FRSC Osun Sector Commander, Leye Adegboyega, in Osogbo on Wednesday.
According to the statement, Corps Marshal Sheu Mohammed rewarded Owoeye with a cash prize of N250,000 alongside a Management Commendation Letter.
This recognition followed Owoeye’s exceptional record of 104 “Attempt To Corrupt Marshal On Duty” (ACS) contraventions in July 2025—the highest in the history of the Command.
The statement added, “The recognition was part of a monthly performance assessment and reward initiative by the Osun State Sector Command, which evaluates officers on integrity operations and enforcement of critical offences responsible for road crashes.”
Owoeye’s July achievement capped his previous performances, “where he recorded 18 ACS contraventions in May and 38 in June. His consistency led the Osun State Command to notify the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja.”
Presenting the award on behalf of the Corps Marshal, Zonal Commanding Officer RS11, Assistant Corps Marshal Ibrahim Abubakar, praised Owoeye for his integrity and urged him to continue serving as a role model within the Corps.
He was joined by Osun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Leye Adegboyega, who encouraged officers of Owoeye’s cadre to follow his example.
The Corps Marshal emphasized, “The recognition was crucial in maintaining the image and integrity of the FRSC before the Nigerian public.”
Adegboyega also called on motorists to obey traffic regulations and refrain from offering inducements to FRSC personnel, noting that bribery “compromises safety and endangers road users.”
He added a warning: the Corps would soon prosecute traffic offenders who attempt to bribe marshals, in addition to imposing the statutory N10,000 fine.
“Road safety is everybody’s business, and motorists must understand that bribery only increases the risk of accidents,” Adegboyega said.
The Osun FRSC Command reiterated its dedication to fostering a safe motoring environment and reducing road crashes across the state.
