A sexual harassment lawsuit involving a senior executive at JPMorgan Chase has taken a new turn, as fresh revelations cast doubt on the credibility of the claims.
The case, which emerged earlier this week, was initially filed by a plaintiff identified as “John Doe,” who accused a senior executive in the bank’s leveraged finance division of coercion and workplace abuse.
However, an exclusive report by the New York Post has now identified the accuser as Chirayu Rana, a former employee of the bank currently working at Bregal Sagemount.
According to the report, sources familiar with the matter described the allegations as fabricated, a claim that adds a new dimension to the case.
This development comes a day after JPMorgan Chase had denied the allegations, stating that an internal investigation found no evidence to support the claims.
The bank also noted that the complainant declined to provide key information needed to substantiate the accusations.
The executive at the centre of the allegations, Lorna Hajdini, has also firmly denied any wrongdoing, stating through her legal representatives that she never engaged in inappropriate conduct and was not present at the location where the alleged incident reportedly occurred.
Sources within the organisation further indicated that both individuals worked in the same division but reported to different senior managers, raising questions about the claim that Hajdini had influence over the accuser’s compensation.
The lawsuit also accuses the bank of retaliation and inadequate investigation, while colleagues have described Hajdini as a high-performing professional whose reputation has been affected by the allegations.
Legal proceedings in the matter are ongoing, with no trial date announced.
