The legal counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Igbo group, Independent People of Biafra, Aloy Ejimajor, has called on President Bola Tinubu, to please prove to the whole world that Nigeria is not lawless, by releasing the IPOB leader.

Ejikamor who appealed his X handle, emphasized that only a lawless nation would refuse to free Kanu despite local and international communities, declaring the manner of his arrest as lawless.

According to the IPOB lawyer, keeping his principal in detention after his manner of arrest has been condemned by the local and international communities, can only portray Nigeria in a bad light.

“It’s only a lawless nation that would persist in detaining a man whose rendition & detention have been municipally & internationally declared ILLEGAL, even with compensation & apology awarded.

“@officialABAT should #FreeMNK to prove that Nigeria is not a lawless nation.”

It would be recalled that Kanu who has been fighting for the breaking away of the people of Biafra from Nigeria, was in June 2022, arrested in Kenya by Nigerian security agencies, who lured him to the country after jumping bail in Nigeria.

However, the Nigerian government repatriated him to Nigeria to continue his trial, which he had earlier granted bail.

Meanwhile, the leader of the IPOB agitators has Since his return, been locked up by the Department of State Services, despite several courts ordering his release.
