Just 24 hours after armed bandits attacked 16 villages in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, another 26 people—mostly women—were reportedly abducted in Zurmi Local Government Area.
The earlier attack in Kaura Namoda left five people dead, with many others kidnapped and livestock worth millions of naira stolen.
According to Daily Post, the Kaura Namoda assaults occurred between Saturday and Sunday, with bandits looting freely across multiple communities. Meanwhile, in Zurmi LGA, the assailants carried out a stealth operation, abducting victims without firing a single shot.
“The armed bandits invaded three communities in Zurmi LGA—Zurmi town, Dada, and Gidan Shaho—abducted 24 people and injured one,” a source revealed. The attack mirrored a similar incident in Ruwan Dorawa village two years prior, where bandits operated undetected for hours.
Of the 24 abducted in Zurmi, 18 were taken from Zurmi town, four from Dada village, and two from Gidan Shaho. Among the victims was a classroom teacher intercepted by the bandits as they exited Dada village. “They ordered him to join them, and he complied,” the source added.
