The first contingent of pilgrims from Gombe State has successfully departed Medina for Mecca to continue their Hajj pilgrimage, according to the Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

In a statement released on Friday by the board’s media team, the pilgrims concluded their Medina stay with visits to several historic Islamic landmarks. These included the Prophet Muhammad’s Mosque (Masjid an-Nabawi), Masjid Quba—the first mosque built by the Prophet (SAW), the Mountain of Uhud, and the revered Jannatul Baqi’ cemetery.

Expressing gratitude, one of the pilgrims, Hajiya Rabi Sulaiman, described the experience as deeply spiritual. “The entire journey through Medina was both humbling and inspiring. We are especially thankful to the Pilgrims Welfare Board for treating us with such care and respect. It felt like family,” she said.

Another pilgrim, Alhaji Musa Adamu, praised the board’s organization and support: “From religious guidance to healthcare and accommodation, everything was well coordinated. We were well taken care of at every point.”

Board officials accompanying the pilgrims commended the group’s conduct and spiritual commitment. “Their unity, discipline, and devotion were evident throughout the trip. We believe they are spiritually prepared for the next sacred rites in Mecca,” one official stated.

Pilgrims offered prayers at the Prophet’s tomb and reflected on the sacrifices made at the Mountain of Uhud, particularly remembering the Prophet’s uncle, Hamza (RA), a key martyr in Islamic history. At Jannatul Baqi’, they paid respects to the graves of the Prophet’s companions and family members.

The board reported that all pilgrims remained in good health and attributed the smooth experience to meticulous planning and support.

The Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board assured the public of its continued oversight, promising to maintain a seamless and spiritually rewarding journey for all subsequent batches as the Hajj progresses.
