Fire destroys residential building in Ibadan, no casualty recorded

Fire incident has ravaged another residential property in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

According to reports, the fire incident took place on Friday at Ori-Eni Apapa Ojeomo Road in the Moniya area, reducing valuables worth millions of naira to ashes.

Thankfully, there were no casualties.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the development to newsmen on Friday.

Akinwande stated, “The fire personnel led by ACFS Adedeji (Mrs) promptly deployed to the scene of incident.

“On arrival it was a private residential building of three (3) bedrooms flat engulfed by fire.

“We swiftly swung into action and restricted the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and properties. The fire was jointly extinguished with Federal Fire Service.

“The cause of the fire was as a result of overheating of cooking appliance plugged in the kitchen unattended, ignited to nearby combustibles and set the building ablaze.

“No casualty was recorded but properties worth million of naira was destroyed by fire. The fire service was able to save all the nearby buildings and properties from the devastating fire.”

This incident comes just hours after a similar residential fire outbreak was reported in Ogbomoso.
