FIFA unveils record $2.3m prize for Women’s Club Champions

FIFA has unveiled a landmark prize money package for the inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup, with the tournament winners set to pocket $2.3 million, the largest single prize ever in women’s club football.

The global football governing body revealed the figures in a post on its official X account on Friday.

Runners-up in the competition will take home $1 million, with the final slated for Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Arsenal Stadium. Clubs eliminated in the semi-finals will receive $200,000 each, while Auckland United FC from New Zealand and Wuhan Chegu Jiangda WFC of China PR, the two teams knocked out in the opening round, will earn $100,000 apiece.

In total, nearly $4 million will be distributed among the six participating clubs.

FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström hailed the announcement as a demonstration of the organization’s confidence in women’s football.

“A total payout of close to USD 4 million distributed among the six participants based on their performance is a clear statement of the belief in women’s club football and the players, teams and competitions driving its continued rise,” Grafström said.

He further emphasized that the prize money reflects the rapid development of the women’s game worldwide and FIFA’s enduring commitment.

“It reflects the global growth of the women’s game and FIFA’s commitment to making targeted, meaningful investments that strengthen women’s club football for the long term. Our focus is clear: to continue investing in, growing, and elevating women’s club football at every level, ensuring that opportunity, visibility, and value keep pace with the exceptional performances seen on the pitch,” Grafström added.

FIFA explained that this prize structure is part of a broader strategy to boost investment and enhance standards in women’s club football across the globe.

The body also reminded that following the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, it had distributed $11.3 million to 1,041 clubs worldwide through the FIFA Club Benefits Programme.

With this historic prize money in place, the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup 2026 is set to raise the benchmark for women’s club competitions and further elevate the global profile of the women’s game.
