The Federal Government has announced the postponement of recruitments into the paramilitary services under the Ministry of Interior. The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.
The statement read: “The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board CDCFIB, wishes to notify the general public that its recruitment portal, which was earlier slated to open on Thursday 26th June, 2025, will now open on Monday, 14th July, 2025.”
The board also announced a change in the portal address for prospective applicants. The statement continued: “Also, the Board’s portal address for prospective applicants desiring to apply into the Service of their choice, is now: recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng.”
Emphasizing the free nature of the application process, the board stated: “Applicants are kindly requested to take note of the above changes as well as be reminded that all applications are free and do not attract any payment. Any inconvenience caused by this change is highly regretted, please.”
The recruitment exercise was initially scheduled to commence on Thursday, 26th June, 2025, before the postponement.
The paramilitary services affected by this recruitment include the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Correctional Service, Federal Fire Service, and Nigeria Immigration Service.
This development comes as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen the nation’s security architecture through the recruitment of qualified personnel into these critical services. The postponement provides additional time for the board to finalize preparations for the recruitment exercise.
Prospective applicants are advised to visit the new portal address when it opens on July 14 and ensure they meet all necessary requirements for their chosen service. The board has reiterated that the application process remains completely free of charge, warning applicants against fraudulent individuals or websites that might demand payment for the recruitment exercise.
The Ministry of Interior oversees these paramilitary services which play crucial roles in maintaining internal security, managing correctional facilities, fire prevention and control, as well as border management and immigration services across the country.
The recruitment exercise is expected to attract thousands of applicants across the country seeking employment opportunities in these vital security services. The postponement allows for wider publicity of the exercise and gives more time for potential candidates to prepare their necessary documents.
Authorities have assured that the selection process will be transparent and merit-based, in line with the Federal Government’s commitment to fair and equitable employment opportunities for all qualified Nigerians.
The CDCFIB has apologized for any inconvenience caused by the schedule change and promised a smooth recruitment process when the portal eventually opens next month. Applicants are encouraged to regularly check the official portal and verified government channels for any further updates regarding the recruitment exercise.
This recruitment forms part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance national security and create employment opportunities for Nigerian youth. The paramilitary services play increasingly important roles in the country’s security framework, particularly in addressing emerging security challenges across various regions.
The Ministry of Interior has emphasized that only the official portal should be used for applications, warning the public against dealing with unauthorized agents or paying money to anyone claiming to facilitate the recruitment process. All necessary information about the recruitment will be made available on the official portal when it opens in July.
