FG declares Friday public holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid

The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on behalf of the Minister of Interior.

Dr. Ajani congratulated Muslims across the country and beyond, urging them to emulate the exemplary life of the Prophet.

“The Prophet’s virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion remain guiding principles for humanity,” she said.

She further called on Nigerians of all faiths to take the opportunity to pray for peace, security, and national stability.

“We urge citizens to support the government’s efforts in fostering unity and driving development across the nation,” the statement added.

The Minister of Interior also wished Muslims a joyous and peaceful celebration, encouraging them to use the season to strengthen bonds of brotherhood and national cohesion.
