The Federal Government has announced a special passport intervention exercise for Nigerians residing in the United Kingdom, with activities scheduled to take place in four cities in September.
The exercise, being organised by the Nigeria Immigration Service, will cover London, Manchester, Aberdeen and Cardiff as part of efforts to address pending passport applications and improve services for Nigerians in the diaspora.
The intervention follows a directive from the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and consultations between the NIS, the Nigerian High Commission and representatives of Nigerian communities in the UK.
In a public notice issued on Monday, the NIS Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, said the intervention team deployed from the service’s headquarters in Abuja would commence operations in London and Manchester from September 7 to 19, 2026.
In London, applicants will be attended to at Layali Lounge, Trent Park, Bramley Road, London N14 4UW, while the venue for the Manchester exercise is Nigerian House, 23 Platt Lane, Manchester M14 5NE.
The team will subsequently move to Aberdeen and Cardiff, where the exercise will run from September 21 to 26.
The Aberdeen exercise will take place at Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen AB24 4NR, while applicants in Cardiff will be attended to at Sophia Gardens, Sophia Walk, Cardiff CF11 9XR.
The Immigration Service encouraged eligible Nigerians in the four cities and neighbouring areas to use the opportunity to apply for new passports, renew existing ones or resolve outstanding applications.
However, applicants are required to complete their applications and make payments through the official NIS Passport Application portal before visiting their selected intervention venue.
They are also expected to come with their completed application forms, payment slips, appointment slips and a self-addressed return envelope.
Those seeking passport renewal must additionally present their current passports.
The NIS warned applicants against bringing cash to the exercise, stressing that such persons would not be attended to.
“Applicants who come with cash will not be attended to,” the service stated.
The Immigration Service also urged applicants to cooperate with its officials to ensure that the intervention is conducted efficiently and orderly.
It noted that its digital passport services, including the Contactless Passport Application System, remained available to Nigerians, while home delivery of passports could also be accessed.
The service said the intervention was designed to assist Nigerians with pending applications, new passport requests and renewals, while strengthening passport service delivery to citizens living abroad.
For enquiries and assistance, applicants can contact [email protected] or the NIS WhatsApp-only line, +234 916 087 8000.
