Ferran Torres eyes link-up with Nico Williams at Barcelona

Barcelona forward, Ferran Torres, has made it clear that he would welcome the opportunity to play alongside Nico Williams, as speculation continues to swirl around the Athletic Club star’s future.

Tensions have reportedly grown between Barça and Athletic Bilbao over the potential transfer of the Spanish international, with the Catalan giants reportedly willing to activate his €58 million release clause.

While vacationing in Ibiza, Torres was quizzed about Barcelona’s interest in his Spain teammate.

“I have not spoken with him,” Torres told TribalFootball. “They are topics that we prefer not to talk about.”

Despite keeping his distance from transfer talks, the 24-year-old didn’t shy away from expressing admiration for Williams and the potential of linking up with him at club level.

“All the top players want to come to the best clubs and the Barça it’s one of them.

“I don’t know what will happen but I hope it’s for the better. I would like to play with him. In the national team we have already played together, I would like to play with him and we could form a good trio (with Lamine Yamal) if everything happens.”

As for his own future, Torres reiterated his commitment to the Blaugrana.

“I see myself at Barcelona and I’m going to stay at Barcelona. I am optimistic and I’m going to fight to earn my position starting at Barcelona.”

Torres was in fine form last season, netting 19 goals across all competitions. With no natural number nine currently available in the squad, the Spanish forward is expected to play a key role again in the 2025–26 season.

His contract, which runs through 2027, remains intact and is not a concern for the club at this point.
