Fayemi denies holding closed-door meeting with Kwankwaso

EFCC interrogates Fayemi over N4bn theft

Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has refuted claims that he held a private political meeting with former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, at his residence in Abuja.

The denial was issued on Thursday through a statement by Ahmad Sajoh, Head of Fayemi’s Media Office, after reports circulated on social media, including an old video showing Fayemi greeting Kwankwaso.

“The report is false and the public should disregard it,” the statement said. “Dr. Fayemi has only met Senator Kwankwaso once in the past year, and that occasion was at the public book launch of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN.”

Fayemi emphasized that he has not held—and is not holding—any closed-door political meetings with Kwankwaso, stressing that their relationship is personal and non-partisan.

“Our friendship is based on mutual respect and a shared commitment to the progress of Nigeria, rather than any political alignment,” he said.

He also cautioned against attempts to politicize private relationships, noting that many of his associates span the full spectrum of Nigeria’s political landscape.

The statement reaffirmed Fayemi’s commitment to national unity, principled engagement, and responsible public discourse.
