Napoli’s new signing, Kevin De Bruyne, has admitted that facing his former club, Manchester City, in the UEFA Champions League will feel unusual.
The Belgian midfielder departed City at the end of last season after his contract expired and has since joined Napoli.
He will return to the Etihad Stadium for the Champions League group stage opener on September 18.
Speaking to TNT Sports, De Bruyne expressed excitement about the upcoming encounter.
“I’ve only played two matches in Serie A. It’s different under manager (Antonio) Conte than the years under Pep Guardiola.
“My first impression is that it’s more tactical in Italy and things move a bit slower. But it’s still football. I played other systems before while at Manchester City.
“We’re playing against City in Manchester with Napoli soon. That’s going to be strange. City is my club and that’s not going to change,” he added.
