Former Watford boss, Giuseppe Sannino, has urged Atalanta to reconcile with Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman and bring him back into the fold.
The Nigerian winger has been embroiled in a tense transfer standoff after Atalanta rejected a €45 million bid from Inter Milan earlier in the summer.
In response, the 27-year-old reportedly handed in a transfer request, accusing the club of failing to keep their word, before embarking on a two-week unauthorized absence from training.
Speaking to Tutto Atalanta, Sannino stressed that Lookman remains too important for the Bergamo side to cast aside.
“I would always want Lookman,” Sannino told Tutto Atalanta.
“He’s been a pillar of the team. As a coach and as a club, I’d do anything to keep him.
“It’s normal for a young player to aspire to something better, but we have to try and convince him, because he’s a great player.”
