Tottenham Hotspur confirmed the departure of manager Ange Postecoglou in a statement on their official website Friday evening, wishing the 59-year-old Australian “all the best in the future.”

The former Celtic boss, who joined Spurs on a four-year deal in 2023, responded with his own emotional statement reflecting on his tenure.

“When I reflect on my time as Manager of Tottenham Hotspur my overriding emotion is one of pride,” Postecoglou said. “The opportunity to lead one of England’s historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime.”

Postecoglou’s tenure culminated in May’s Europa League triumph – a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in Bilbao that ended Tottenham’s 17-year wait for major silverware.

“That night in Bilbao was the culmination of two years of hard work, dedication and unwavering belief in a dream,” he stated. “We have also laid foundations that mean this club should not have to wait 7 more years for their next success.”

The outgoing manager reserved special praise for his players, calling them “a fantastic group of young men who are now legends of this football club.”
