Ex-Arsenal captain George Eastham dies at 88

Arsenal FC announced the passing of their former captain, George Eastham, on Saturday.

The sad news was shared via a brief statement on their official X account.

The statement read, “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of trailblazer, George Eastham.

“Our captain from 1963-1966 during his six-year spell at Arsenal, George was also part of the 1966 World Cup-winning England squad.

“May he rest in peace.”

Eastham, who was 88 years old, also enjoyed successful spells at Newcastle and Stoke during his career.
